Moerman Lilium is located in De Lier, where they grow top quality liliums with the lowest possible environmental impact. Their goal is to produce lilies in a sustainable way. Growing in a natural way not only benefits the products, but also the environment.

“All the good things are provided by nature and we should honour this to also guarantee a good future for the next generations”

Moerman is MPS-A qualified. They only use chemicals when it is unavoidable. In stead of using chemicals, Moerman uses substitutes provided by nature. For example, their greenhouses have a unique open roof system that allow the use of sunlight and wind to make the lilies sturdy and the colours more bright.

In 2017, Moerman won the Dutch Tulip award with the Roselily. This is an international award for the best introduction at the market. An Oscar in shape of a glass tulip.

Origin

Finally! Lilies that give no stains, are less fragrant and also have a beautiful vase life!

Lilium is a genus of herbaceous plants, belonging to the lily family. The genus has more than 100 species, most of which occur in the northern hemisphere.

In 1997 a breeder grew the Roselily from a double flowering lily. They discovered a mutation in one of their Oriental crops. The pollen had formed to flowers leafs.

This breeder saw opportunities and continued to develop this beautiful lily. In 2011 the first Roselily appeared on the flower market. In 2013 this number was extended to seven different varieties.

The product is still a bit in a startup phase, but the product grows more beautiful with each year and the number of branches on each stem continuously increases.

As their flowers open, what they most resemble is a rose. No wonder this beautiful lily has been named after the rose. The beauty combined from two flowers into one.

Apart from being exceptionally beautiful, the roselily has additional positive characteristics. The roselily has no pollen, so you get no stains on your clothes. And the fragrance is not as overpowering as most of the lily varieties. In addition, the roselily will last approximately four days longer than most Oriental lilies.

Care

Make sure you have a vase which is thoroughly cleaned. Fill the vase with cold water and liquid flower food. Do you use flower food in powder form? Take some lukewarm water so the flower food can resolve.

If there are any leaves in the water, they will rot. This leads to extra bacterial growth in the water and it worsens the vase life of your flower. Therefore make sure you take all the leaves from the stem from the part that stands in the water. Cut the flowers in an angel and put the flowers directly in the water.

Replace the water several times to prevent bacterial growth in the water. Don’t place the vase into direct sunlight or next to a heater.
