Marimo by Eƨperit
Marimo
Esperit is a young, dynamic company that is divided into three business sectors; Esperit Youngs, Esperit Plants and Esperit Elements.
Esperit Youngs
Esperit Youngs is the breeding ground for many plants that run through the company. The most special plant varieties are bred and cut here. Esperit Youngs growers travel all over the world in search of the most unique plants, which are then given the opportunity to develop further. Most of these plants go on to the Esperit Plants department where they are allowed to grow into beautiful large adult plants.
Esperit Plants
At Esperit Plants, new and existing plant varieties grow on about 14 ha. These varieties are sold under two labels. The largest label is Esperit Ficuss; their own brand name for the dozens of ficus varieties (including many exclusive varieties) that Esperit Plants grows. The green plants are sold under Esperit Greenss.
Esperit Elements
Esperit Elements supplies a very extensive range of high-quality packages that are in line with current trends. Wouter Persoon, owner of Esperit Elements, gave us an interesting tour. Wouter said that he employs two very passionate trend watchers, who translate the latest hypes into marketable arrangements. New collections are launched every year for the holidays and the seasons. In addition, they also carry a number of so-called Specialss lines such as terrariums and dried flowers.
Marimo
Esperit Elements has recently added the "Marimo" to its range. A unique natural phenomenon that has been used in the world of aquariums for a number of years, but has been translated by Esperit into a fun, modern arrangement. The Marimo is very easy to maintain and very decorative in the living room, at an event or at the counter at a company.
It looks like a ball of moss, but it is a living green algae species. Marimo can only be found in a few places in the world, such as Iceland, Japan and Canada. The natural phenomenon is very rare. Anyone looking for it has to go to the bottom of deep lakes or over inhospitable rocky outcrops. The flow keeps every ball perfectly round. The ball grows 5 mm in diameter every year and can live up to 100 years.
According to a legend, Marimo balls must have originated after a forbidden love. When the two lovers fell into the water, their hearts turned into Marimo balls that live on forever. Since that time, the natural phenomenon has stood for happiness. You have luck in your hands!
Caring
Change the water once every 1-3 weeks, rinse gently and squeeze the balls.
If necessary, carefully re-shape the ball with your hands. They float at first but sink to the bottom after a while.
