FloraPodium gives masterclass

The Aeres in Velp is part of a comprehensive school that specializes in vocational education. FloraPodium has had a wonderful collaboration with this school for some time now. Every year, a fun masterclass is organized for all Aeres teachers and since this year also the Nordwin teachers "Bloem". Due to the arrival of Corona, this had to be done differently this year. The Aeres was looking for a partner who could provide a fun, inspiring online masterclass for these teachers. So they asked us at FloraPodium whether we could be of any help in this.

FloraPodium is a platform where everyone is welcome, so we like to think along with all parties. An online masterclass for teachers was a new challenge for us. But we believe that if you connect all the links in the flower sector, the sector will eventually become stronger. If we could contribute to this, we would be happy to do so. In collaboration with international flower arranger Nicky Markslag, we devised a challenging assignment for the teachers and made an introductory film.

A fantastic project where all aspects of the floriculture sector came together; breeder, grower, exporter, arranger, teachers and indirectly also the students (the future of our sector).

The teachers received an introduction film and a mystery box with flowers from us. To increase diversity, the teachers had to provide the substrate, frame and other materials themselves. Just like in the mystery boxes that can be ordered for the students, the teachers also received a spotlight product in the mystery box; the Celosia cristata "Reprise" from Feiko Sonneveld Quality Celosia. In the introduction film we showed a small part of our visit to Feiko Sonneveld. In the mystery box they received all the information about the Celosia "Reprise".

Ellis Rexwinkel, Aeres Velp. Inspiration from Post Modern architecture by Coop Himmelb(l)au and Olympics in Peking, famous for the stadium by architects Herzog & de Meuron i.c.w. Ai Weiwei. Guts to combine, provoke the audience, rocking the boat; Vivienne Westwood!

The assignment

Create a transparent bouquet on a matching background with a frame, with the perspective stretched or distorted (a bit cartoonish). Make a report of the concept and translate it into a commercial concept for the younger generation. And of course make a stunning picture for the FloraPodium website!

We received very positive reactions from the teachers who followed this masterclass together with a lot of terrific pictures with fantastically developed concepts, which we hope will be translated to the students. They need to be inspired, they have the future of this fantastic sector in their hands.

The masterclass was a wonderful project that FloraPodium and Flower Theater Nicky Markslag worked on with great pleasure.

We all have a wonderful profession, we have wonderful products, but we can only strengthen this profession together!
