On 28, 29 and 30 January, the international event Madrid Blooms took place in Madrid. Organised by Madrid Flower School, the event brought together florists, students and suppliers from all over the world. Barendsen attended as the sponsor of the flowers.
Thanks to our participation, we had our own spot in the area where participants gathered during coffee and lunch breaks. A central location, ideal for meeting visitors, handing out goodie bags and starting conversations. Other suppliers and sponsors also presented their latest products and innovations here, such as sustainable flower tubes and alternatives to floral foam.
The setting was compact and personal. This created open conversations and valuable encounters, and gave us great insights into current developments within the international flower industry.

On Wednesday, an inspiring programme of demonstrations was on the agenda. Well-known names from the international floral world gave presentations, including Jasmine Floral, Gregor Lersch, Bryce Heyworth from September Studio, Studio Lilo, Matagalán Plantae and Victoria Clausen. This year’s theme was primary colours, with yellow, blue and red as the foundation. There was also attention for innovative and sustainable solutions, such as Oshun Pouch and compostable flower tubes made from bagasse, a plant-based by-product from sugarcane.
Between sessions, there was plenty of time to network. We spoke with existing customers and met new contacts, which may lead to great collaborations in the future.
O
n Thursday and Friday, participants got hands-on during various masterclasses led by the participating designers.
Madrid Blooms once again showed how important connection, inspiration and innovation are within our sector. An international event that Barendsen was proud to be part of.
